 About BISAK

BISAK is one of the oldest British Curriculum Schools in Saudi Arabia. The school originally moved to a new campus after leaving our previous site of 22 years (1998-2018). Our school is located on one large campus in the new residential area of As Sadafah in Al Khobar.

BISAK is a co-educational, international school, providing a British style of education for approximately 930 pupils from the age of 3-18. The school is licensed under Saudi Arabian Law as a private and non-profit making school. It is registered with the Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia, as a ‘Foreign Community School’. The school is also registered with the Department for Education (DfE) in the UK.

BISAK aims to prove the best possible British education whilst enhancing pupils’ educational experience with richness of the local culture. The distinctive British character of the school is a major attraction for families and staff, alongside the excellent reputation at the Ministry of Education, KSA. We are rightly proud of our multinational community, as BISAK pupils represent over 50 nationalities, which makes our children’s experience here like no other in the UK. Parents appreciate that the school is innovative in its approach to teaching and learning and keeps up to date with UK and international initiatives. This is very apparent from not only the conversations, but the emails, letters and cards received from both present and departing families.

High standards are achieved by the pupils both academically and beyond, through our school values:

  B

Belief – developing positive attitudes, consideration and helping others.

I

Internationalism – growing as global citizens.

S

Success – always learning in everything we do.

A

Aspiration – nothing is impossible.

K

Knowledge – of ourselves, each other and the world around us.

We are a selective school. All pupils go through an admission and assessment process and must meet our minimum expectations to gain a place at the school. Consequently, we do not have an SEN department. Given the nature of our pupil body, English is not their first language. However, as pupils on entry are required to have a good level of English proficiency, extensive support is not required. However, support is offered across the curriculum and directly through English lessons as when pupils need support.

Welcome to BISAK from Mr Stephen Viner, Principal

Dear Applicant

Thank you for taking the time to review our recruitment information. I joined the school as Head of Secondary in 2010. I have had the privilege to watch our school grow and develop. I am very proud to lead a school and staff body that is as successful as BISAK.

In September 2019, our dream of a new school become a reality. Our school is now equipped for the challenges of the 21st Century with facilities which our pupils and staff richly deserve. I hope like me you have the desire to work with our pupils on a campus which will allow us to broaden every child’s horizon in ways we cannot yet imagine.

In April 2022, our British School Overseas (BSO) inspection led by PENTA International stated that: “BISAK provides a high standard of education, as a result, pupils make excellent academic progress and attainment. Pupils show positive attitudes to learning and their behaviour is excellent. The levels of care provided ensure all pupils feel safe and thrive at school. Strong leadership ensures a focus on continuous improvement. Pupils and their parents are proud to be part of the school community”. This is the key to our school, our family and ultimately our success every day.

Working at BISAK provides a unique opportunity to be part of a successful international all-through school. Both the Preparatory School and Senior School and Sixth Form work very closely together to ensure our pupils experience the same holistic experience.

Our school has a very family-oriented ethos, including married couples with and without children who attend the school alongside single colleagues. We are very proud of our highly successful ECT programme. With our Teaching School Status it enables us to support new colleagues from University to start the teaching career in the very best environment. Our diverse staff community helps us create a professional, caring and supportive spirit which permeates throughout the school.

If you want to be able to teach in a state of the art school, develop as a professional, work within a supportive community, be able to develop the minds of each child ready for the unknown challenges and future we face, then BISAK is the school for you. If you believe you can work with us and add value to our pupils, I hope you will take the time to apply to our school.

I sincerely hope that in the very near future I am personally able to welcome you to our wonderful school.

Best wishes

Mr Stephen Viner BSc (Hons), PGCE, NPQEL, C. Mgr FCMI
