Maternity Cover – English Teacher
Starting - March 2022
This is a full time (but would consider part time) temporary maternity cover position. We are looking for a passionate, dedicated and motivated Teacher of English with excellent subject knowledge who can combine academic rigour and achievement with a passion for the subject.
We welcome applications from both well qualified teachers and those who are at the beginning of their career. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across all key stages, GCSE(AQA) and A Level (OCR) and complement this dynamic and forward thinking department.
The successful applicant will be assigned a mentor to support them during their time with us. Every member of staff is assigned to a learning and teaching hub to support collaborative work across departments. The successful candidate will also benefit from our programme for professional development. Our staff wellbeing team will help to ensure that the new post-holder is integrated into the life of the school and very much a part of The Priory.
If you would like to request a tour of the school, or meet with us informally before applying, then please contact the school.
Closing date: Monday 6 December 2021
Interviews: Date to be confirmed
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

About The Priory Church of England School
The Priory School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school.
This means that the education that we provide offers more than academic rigour and excellence. Our rates of progress are outstanding; these are enhanced and extended by our school values which are at the heart of everything we do.
The combination of academic challenge and support, the breadth and range of our curriculum and the close links we have locally and with the wider world mean that we are ‘serving our community’ and ‘educating for life in all its fullness’ every day.
We firmly believe that our values of hope, wisdom, dignity and community are meaningful, desirable and relevant foundations on which all young people can start to build their adult lives.
Schools have been set up by the Church of England for more than two centuries with the intention of educating the children of the parish. At The Priory, the vast majority of our students come from local C of E primary schools such as St Paul’s, St Martin’s, St John’s, The Weald and Surrey Hills. In addition we warmly receive students from other Dorking schools such as Powell Corderoy, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and North Downs, clearly indicating that we are open and welcoming to students and families of other faiths and of no faith
