Job overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Performing Arts Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Key Stage 3-5 (KS3 - KS5) Performing Arts. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students in drama, fostering their creativity, self-expression, and love for the subject.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in KS3 Drama, KS4 and KS5 Performing Arts, aligned with the national curriculum or examination board requirements.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for performing arts.
  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
  • Support students in their artistic development, helping them to develop their skills, confidence, and creativity.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the performing arts curriculum, ensuring its relevance and alignment with educational objectives.
  • Stay updated with current trends, methodologies, and best practices in performing arts education.
  • Participate in school events, performances, and extracurricular activities related to the performing arts department.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering positive relationships and a supportive learning community.
  • Attend departmental meetings, professional development sessions, and staff training as required.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts, Drama or a related field. A relevant teaching qualification is desirable.
  • Proven experience teaching KS3 Drama, KS4 and KS5 Performing Arts, preferably within a school or educational setting.
  • Sound knowledge of the national curriculum or examination board requirements for performing arts subjects.
  • Familiarity with BTEC qualifications and experience in delivering BTEC courses is highly advantageous.
  • Strong passion for the performing arts and a genuine desire to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to engage and maintain student interest.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with current educational practices.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school.
