Job overview

Do you have an interest in Autism or have experience working with children with Autism? Are you an outstanding teacher? We have a vacancy in our mainstream for an intervention teacher to support EYFS children with SEND. You will be supported by a team of Child Support Assistants and Camden language and Early Intervention Teams. 

The post is to support across Reception in planning and delivering intervention lessons for ASC children in the mainstream school. The class teacher role will be based in our mainstream, teaching a small class of children, in a specially designed intervention classroom, supported by a team of Child Support Assistants. We are looking to appoint the best from across the Primary range. The successful applicant will take up the post in September 2024, but we will also consider applicants for a July 2024 start to be involved in handover. This role is a new, innovative post, and therefore is being offered as a fixed term- 1 year contract, with opportunity to extend, as the post is evaluated throughout the year. Although we envisage this role to continue, as we are a school that values inclusion and therefore has an above average level of SEND in mainstream.

We have just had our routine Ofsted inspection (May 2024) and look forward to sharing the report with the community soon.

We are a two form entry mainstream primary with an autism resource base for 30 pupils and a centre for two year olds. Netley Campus also comprises an Adult Learning Centre, Camden’s Primary Pupil Referral Unit and an NHS Language & Communications Team.   • is an outstanding primary practitioner who can demonstrate success in improving provision for their pupils
  • has a strong knowledge and understanding of how to support children with Autism
  • has the knowledge of, or skills in using, specialist communication systems e.g. Makaton, PECs
  • is able to engage with and enthuse parents
  • has excellent organisational and digital skills
