Job Purpose

Our Finance & Payroll Officer will work closely with the Deputy CEO and collaboratively with the Human Resources Officer to establish a centralised finance and payroll support service for the Trust. This will include setting up and maintaining excellent finance processes spanning purchase ledger, reporting and some management accounting. This role will have particular focus on ensuring staff changes are correctly administered and recorded on our payroll system and will also include some administration of Trust-wide finance and HR systems. 

 

Key areas of responsibility

 

Finance

·       Maintain the Sales and Purchase Ledgers for the central budget, ensuring timely payment of invoices.

·       Carry out month end Balance Sheet reconciliations for the central budget, and produce draft management accounts on an accruals basis.

·       Prepare VAT returns.

·       Assist the DCEO with preparation and consolidation of reports and reconciliations across multiple budgets.

·       Liaise with finance colleagues in academies over budgets, management accounts and forecasts.

·       Act as a central point of contact for auditors.

·       Maintain the Trust website, “Get Information About Schools” and other published Trust information.

·       Administer staff, governors’ and Trustees’ access to shared documents and online software.

 

 

HR/Payroll

·       Receive and input staff changes onto the Trust payroll system, checking for completeness and liaising with line managers as required.

·       Maintain the policy review schedule, assist with updating policies and ensure that updated policies are shared and published as appropriate.

·       Administrative support for the development and maintenance of Trust training records

 

 

Other responsibilities

 

Safeguarding

·      Ensure personal understanding of the duties and responsibilities in relation to child protection and the safeguarding of children and young people. This includes understanding of the academy Child Protection Policy, Safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct.

·      Ensure all issues relating to pupils are reported immediately to the delegated member of staff

·      Attend mandatory training and refreshers to ensure a personal and up to date understanding of safeguarding requirements

 

Health, Safety & Security

·      Ensure a personal awareness of and compliance with, policies and procedures related to health, safety, and security, confidentiality, and data protection

·      Ensure concerns are reported immediately to the delegated member of staff

·      Attend mandatory training and refreshers to ensure personal and up to date understanding of relevant policies and practices

 

Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity

·      Contribute to the development of a workplace culture that promotes equity, diversity and inclusivity
