The role:
Wimbledon High School is looking for an enthusiastic, positive and dynamic Teacher of Geography to join us on a fixed-term basis, covering a period of maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the enduring popularity of Geography at the school and to help students to continue to achieve excellent results in the subject.
As a key member of the Geography Department, you will contribute to providing an excellent education by teaching with expertise and enthusiasm, encouraging students to think about the dynamic interaction between people and environments and to develop the skills that will be transferable to a wide range of situations. You will also offer support to the learning of individual students and contribute to the school’s pastoral system.
A well-qualified graduate of Geography with the ability to teach the subject from KS3 up to KS4 (plus A Level for the right candidate), you will use your excellent range of teaching strategies and passion for Geography to inspire, motivate and support our pupils.
Geography at Wimbledon High School:
We are a supportive and ambitious department, well-resourced and keen to take on new approaches, challenging ourselves and our students. We continue to be a popular subject at A Level and GCSE, reflecting our students’ enjoyment of the teaching and learning they receive. We enjoy great success in placing students to read Geography at university, including places at Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions. Fieldwork is considered an essential part of Geography, and day trips are offered to each year group, including annual trips to Barcelona and Dorset, and bi-annual visits to Iceland.
