Are you looking to take your next step on the leadership ladder by leading provision for students, aged 11-13, in an expanding and developing Special School? Are you dedicated to supporting, mentoring, and coaching teachers to promote outstanding teaching and learning? Are you looking to work in a small, friendly, and dynamic school, where you will be able to empower young people with special needs to become more independent, develop functional skills, and become part of the community? Are you a teacher who thrives on challenge?
Moorcroft School is looking for a Head of our 11-13 department to complement our Senior Leadership Team for the start of the Summer Term 2018. As well as leading a class of students, you will also be responsible for development of the educational provision for young people aged 11-13 across the school, and for developing the transition of pupils from feeder schools into year 7.
Moorcroft School is a member of the Eden Academy, which is a Multi-Academy Trust incorporating 5 Special Schools in the London Boroughs of Hillingdon, and Harrow. We cater for a range of special needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Some of the pupils may also have additional sensory or physical impairments, or challenging behaviour.
We offer a bespoke professional development programme for teachers at all levels, including middle and senior management training programmes. The position may suit a teacher wanting to take their first step into school leadership, as there are exciting opportunities throughout the Academy to step up to the role of an Assistant Head, Deputy Head, Head of School or Headteacher. You will also have an opportunity to work collaboratively throughout the Eden Academy, and alongside our multi-professional team.
As part of the interview process we will include an in-class task to assess your interaction with our students, and the ability to critically reflect on learning within the classroom.
