JAMES ALLEN’S JUNIOR SCHOOL

Appointment of a Head of Junior School – required for September 2022 or January 2023

With its distinctive heritage as the oldest girls' independent school in London, James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGS) provides a forward-thinking and contemporary education for girls aged 4 to 18. A dynamic school community, that nurtures self-assured and considerate individuals, JAGS is on the cusp of an exciting new phase in its development. It has the ambition to develop further as a leading school across multiple spheres, anticipating global change in a community without barriers in order to achieve full participation and inclusion.

A dynamic and creative Head of the Junior School is sought for September 2022 or January 2023. The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader, passionate about the growth, development and learning of young people and able to nurture all pupils to participate and flourish, academically and personally. A convincing ambassador, they will take key responsibility for the leadership of the Junior School, offering an innovative and creative vision for the complete education of our youngest students. Dynamic, collaborative, solution-focused and experienced in leading nuanced change, they will work closely with all colleagues to bring that vision to life for all pupils.

This post presents an exciting opportunity to work with the new Head of JAGS, Mrs Alex Hutchinson, who took post in 2020, and with a talented Executive Team, in evolving an already exceptional school in its next exciting chapter. Existing headship experience is desirable but not essential, and JAGS welcomes applications from the broader education sector in the UK and internationally.

We offer:

• A diverse benefit package including parking, gym membership and free lunches

• An opportunity to join one of the leading independent girls’ schools in the country

• Generous Pension scheme

• Free access to the Dulwich Picture Gallery

• Cycle to work scheme

Completed applications should be uploaded at: https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference number 5635. The closing date for applications is 08:30 BST on Thursday 17 February 2022.

The longlist of candidates will be selected in the week commencing 21 February 2022. Following longlist interviews with Perrett Laver, shortlisted candidates will be invited to interviews at JAGS on Wednesday 23 March 2022. Successful candidates will be invited for final interviews on Monday 28 March 2022.

JAGS is committed to equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in our school community.
