We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and energetic Head of Religion Philosophy & Ethics to join our successful team from September 2024. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the largest school in Cambridgeshire.

Religion, Philosophy and Ethics is taught throughout the 11 - 18 age range at all levels of ability and achieves results above the national average. It is a compulsory GCSE subject for Years 9 and 10. At the end of Year 10 all students sit the full course AQA Religious Studies GCSE. Students and the HBK community as a whole value the subject as they understand the skills that it enables them to develop. We also enjoy healthy A Level numbers.

The RPE department consists of 5 specialist teachers who all work collaboratively in our lesson planning and delivery. We pride ourselves on our quality Teaching and Learning as we regularly discuss new subject developments and strive to develop our pedagogy. Our curriculum is ambitious and reflects the Religion and Worldviews approach advocated in the Commission of RE report published in 2018.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic about their work with young people and have a genuine concern for their development as individuals. The school sees the form tutor as a key role in the support, development and welfare of the students and teachers are expected to undertake this role with the same standards and commitment as their subject role.

The role will suit enthusiastic and aspirational teachers or those with good and outstanding practice who wish to share their expertise and make a difference. The school offers a bespoke CPD programme, research and development, links and networks with other outstanding schools as well as a plethora of extra-curricular and cross-curricular working opportunities.

Why come to Hinchingbrooke?

This is a fantastic school to work in: on interview, we ask candidates for their impressions of the School and without fail they comment on how wonderful our students are, the positive team ethos amongst staff and how friendly and welcoming the School is.

If you are an outstanding teacher, it really is worth applying for this post and joining somewhere special. We are seeking to appoint a candidate who is passionate about their subject area; a team player who will thrive on collaboration and teamwork. Someone who really wants to make a difference!

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Early applications are advised as we reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive sufficient suitable applications.
