Job overview

TCES is an independent provider of specialist education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism (ASC), social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and associated disorders. The company has evolved in its focus over the past 20 years from an initial provider of alternative education services to one of the larger providers of Independent Schools’ education in London.

TCES East London is a day school for young people between the ages of 7 to 19 years old with a diagnosis of ASC and/or SEMH. Since 2009 our school has provided an environment where young people can grow and develop themselves personally and academically. We are a diverse and inclusive family community of pupils, teachers, therapists, support staff and parents working together putting our 6 core values at the centre of who we are and everything we do. The Stratford Marsh school is our biggest site in East London and currently has a capacity for 70 pupils, inclusive of a small Sixth Form, but with planning in place for an extension to 95 pupils.

TCES East London’s Stratford Marsh site is run by 52 committed staff. The successfully appointed Headteacher for this site, under the leadership of an Executive Headteacher, will manage a Senior Leadership Team comprising of a Deputy Headteacher, SENCo, Pastoral Care Coordinator, Senior Social Worker and School Business Manager. A new Therapy Lead role is currently being advertised which will also sit on the SLT. In addition, the Headteacher is assisted by a centralised Schools Support Team made up of experts from education, clinical and inclusion.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique organisation, with over 22 years of history in social care and therapeutic education. The incoming Headteacher will be responsible for the day-to-day running of TCES East London Stratford Marsh site, whilst providing strategic leadership and promoting and supporting the vision and mission of TCES.

TCES are looking for an innovative, dynamic and collaborative leader with a proven commitment to therapeutic education and experience of working with neuro-diverse children with complex needs, and the added complications of deprivation.

All potential candidates will be able to demonstrate an alignment with the ethos and values of TCES, as well as the ability to promote and celebrate diversity and inclusion. Candidates will also be committed to leading on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in a child-first environment.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to TCES on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference SATAVA. Alternatively, telephone +44 (0)20 7227 0880 (during office hours). Applications should be received by noon on Friday 11th February 2022.
