We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, skilled and knowledgeable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic school team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HLTA who has experience of covering classes across the age ranges and of supporting children on a one-to-one or small group basis to accelerate progress.
Selwyn is an outstanding Primary School (Ofsted March 2019) in Plaistow, East London. We are the resourced provision for deaf children in Newham and serve a richly diverse community.
We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who:
- Has evidence of good classroom practice
- Has a good knowledge of the National Curriculum and the expectations at key milestones
- Is positive, motivational, calm, flexible and creative
- Is committed to engaging pupils into wanting to learn, inspiring them to be confident and independent
- Is patient and sensitive to children’s individual needs
- Can motivate pupils to achieve beyond their potential
- Has a strong work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents

About Selwyn Primary School
Selwyn is a happy and successful school located in Plaistow, East London. We are at the heart of this culturally rich community where we are able to offer purposeful and exciting learning opportunities for all. Train with us - we are delighted to partner with Teach First to deliver our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme. Teach First is a national charity that develops and supports teachers and leaders who are determined to make a difference where it is needed the most. As a training partner, we will be working with Teach First to deliver this one year teacher training programme, which enables participants to train and develop skills in the classroom. It is ideal for people who are eager to learn on the job and make a difference in their community from day one.
