About the Role
Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference?
At Brick Lane School, you'll be more than a classroom support professional, you'll be a mentor, role model and champion for children and young people with additional needs, helping them build confidence, independence and the skills they need for life beyond school.
Working in small classes alongside experienced teachers and a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you'll have the opportunity to lead learning, inspire pupils and play an active role in shaping their academic, social and emotional development. Every day brings new opportunities to celebrate progress, overcome challenges and help young people achieve things they never thought possible.
This unique role also gives you the opportunity to lead our Personal Development and Future Pathways programme, preparing pupils for adulthood through careers education, enterprise projects, independent living and real-life experiences that build confidence for the future.
If you're passionate about inclusive education and want a rewarding role where your ideas, energy and expertise are valued, we'd love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
Deliver engaging learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes, including covering lessons when required.
Plan, prepare and adapt learning resources to meet the individual needs of pupils.
Deliver targeted interventions that support pupils' academic progress, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
Work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to implement EHCPs and personalised learning strategies.
Promote positive behaviour and create a calm, nurturing environment where every pupil feels safe, supported and ready to learn.
Lead the school's Personal Development and Future Pathways programme, delivering engaging Careers, Enterprise and Independent Living sessions.
Build partnerships with local employers and community organisations, creating meaningful opportunities that prepare pupils for adulthood.
Support whole-school events, enterprise activities and enrichment opportunities that broaden pupils' experiences and aspirations.
What you will bring
We are looking for someone caring, flexible and enthusiastic — someone who can inspire pupils, work collaboratively with colleagues and model the school’s values of patience, kindness and teamwork.
Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent), ideally within an SEN setting.
Has experience supporting children or young people with additional needs and is confident leading learning when required.
Can build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils grow in confidence and independence.
Is passionate about preparing young people for successful, fulfilling futures.
Is creative, flexible and confident working across classrooms, outdoor learning and enrichment activities.
Is a collaborative team player who shares our values of kindness, patience, inclusion and high expectations.
Is committed to safeguarding and achieving the very best outcomes for every pupil.
