Job overview
Housemaster/mistress with 0.7 Teaching Timetable
Ref: 1559076
Set in 45 acres of beautiful Perthshire countryside, Queen Victoria School (QVS) is a co-educational Boarding School with a role of 277 pupils. QVS offers a stable and uninterrupted education to the 11 – 18 year old dependents of Service Personnel. The school is fully boarding with pupils being accommodated in one of four Boarding Houses.
We require an enthusiastic, full-time, teacher to take on the role of Housemaster or Housemistress for Trenchard Boarding House, the junior Boarding House (P7 boys and P7-S1 girls). The right candidate can expect a salary of up to £35,763 (based on current SNCT agreements) and a benefits package totaling over £19,500.
Applicants must be suitably qualified to teach at least one subject in the SQA curriculum and must be, GTC Scotland registered and PVG registered prior to taking up the post.
The Housemaster is responsible for the overall leadership and smooth running of the House, the supervision and guidance of staff and, above all, the safety and welfare of the pupils. The Housemaster/mistress is directly responsible for the duty of care for all the pupils within the Boarding House and provides pupils with the constant care, support and moral guidance of a parent. In addition, the position requires detachment and the exercise of judgement on matters such as academic advice and pastoral overview. This key residential boarding position requires a full commitment to Boarding School life, including taking part in extra-curricular activities. Experience working with the CCF, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme or in coaching sports, particularly hockey or rugby, would be highly desirable. Previous experience of boarding is essential, and a qualification in Pastoral Care and a full clean driving license are also desirable.
