We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about teaching Science with a focus on Physics within the IBDP programme, and a commitment to ToK.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the latest approaches to teaching, with a thorough understanding of the requirements of the IBDP Physics, HL and SL courses, and a solid understanding of Theory of Knowledge.


The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Teaching: IB DP Physics HL/SL, Theory of Knowledge, MYP Sciences (subject to timetabling)
  • Developing and delivering curriculum plans, assessment,  lessons and learning activities that meet the needs of IB students
  • Assessing student progress and providing feedback
  • Coordinating student Internal Assessments and any Extended Essays for Physics
  • Preparing students for ToK essay and exhibition
  • Collaborating with other teachers and staff to maximise student learning and progress
  • Maintaining a positive learning environment through effective interpersonal skills and forming positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Fully participating in Ermitage IB school life, including as a Homeroom Teacher and in the development of student activities and trips (includes one residential trip per year with Homeroom group)


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science (desired)
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • 3+ years of experience teaching Science/Physics at DP or A-level in an international or similar school setting
  • Knowledge of IB Programme approaches and curriculum - or willingness to train and adapt
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


The candidate must be able to teach and perform all related functions in English, our school language of communication and instruction. It would be an advantage to hold an EU passport and/or have relevant working papers for employment in France.   This full-time position starts on 22 August 2024 and is remunerated between 45,000-50,000 euros per year, subject to experience.
