The Role 

This post requires an educationalist who is passionate about data and the impact it can have on teaching and learning.  S/he must have a good level of technical skills and experience using SIMS, Office 365, with the ability to quickly learn how to use InCAS/PUMA/PiRA.  The role will include 1 day of classroom teaching and 1 day of release time dedicated to assessment, data and reporting.   

S/he has a good working knowledge of child protection issues and safeguarding and undertakes the appropriate training as s/he will liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead on related and highly confidential matters. 

Key Responsibilities 

Assessment, Data and Tracking: 

  • Organise, facilitate and lead all internal and external assessment points such as baseline testing (InCAS), and termly assessments
  • Responsible for the preparation of examination results and self-evaluation data as required, assisting in the process for analysis. 
  • Ensure the regular quality assurance of pupil attainment data. 
  • Ensure that the pupil data provided by external sources is imported and maintained.
  • Coordinate, analyse and feedback data to all relevant staff at regular intervals
  • Analyse and evaluate class and year group assessments and keep accurate and appropriate records on SIMS
  • Create and manage the development of strategic and operational data analysis systems to support in depth analysis of individual teacher, subject and curriculum performance as part of the whole school APAR. 
  • Assist in the preparation for ISI inspections every three years, or earlier, and at all times be ‘inspection ready’ having current documentation and practices recorded and updated 

Reporting to Parents:

  • Lead and organise the reporting to parents calendar and ensure staff are aware of what they need to do and when
  • Create frameworks and guidance on the different types of reports, oversee the writing of reports to ensure consistency and run the reports from SIMs once complete
  • Ensure reporting systems are straightforward to use and that a clear annual schedule of reporting is published in advance to parents and staff.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on reporting.
  • Maintain and improve both electronic and paper methods for reporting student progress to parents.
  • Monitor progress of report writing and take action to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Review the role of face-to-face meetings, progress and full reports to consider what parents want and need, and when

Classroom Teaching:

Prepare plans for each curriculum area having regard for continuity and progression in learning and the school’s policies 

Prepare daily plans in sufficient detail to give a clear view of how each individual lesson should develop.  

Ensure that all work is prepared and ready in advance of the lesson 

Continually assess children’s progress both formally and informally and maintain children’s profile records 

To provide a warm, friendly, supportive atmosphere that is conducive to the social and emotional needs of the children within an assigned class 

Follow all codes of practice in relation to school discipline, health and safety regulations, Special Educational Needs and the reporting of accidents 

Keep the attendance register am and pm each day 

Organise the classroom in an attractive and stimulating fashion and display the children’s work to the best possible advantage 

Cover for colleagues in their absence 

Take a full part in staff meetings, INSET, and parents’ evenings 

Support the pupils and school as a whole, by attending school productions, functions and any events as requested 

Co-operate fully with all other members of staff and help promote good working relationships 

Build close working relationships with the teaching team to ensure continuity and progression between year groups 

Foster the development and continuation of good parent/teacher relationships 

To prepare school reports, reports for educational psychologists, other schools and for any other body/organisation as requested by the Head or Deputy Head 

Make full and proper use of the materials and resources available 

The teacher has the responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in accordance to our Safeguarding Policy

Falcons Pre-Preparatory Chiswick is a leading independent, non-selective school for boys aged 2-7 year olds including a co-educational Nursery for 2-4 year olds.
