Join Our Team as a KS1 Teacher at Norfolk House School!

Norfolk House School is a vibrant co-educational prep school renowned for its nurturing environment and strong sense of community. With a commitment to fostering a lifelong love of learning, we offer a diverse curriculum enriched by a wide array of extracurricular activities.

We are seeking an inspirational KS1 Teacher who is passionate about fostering excellence in our students. Our school boasts delightful children, supportive parents, and a team of dedicated professionals, making Norfolk House a truly exceptional workplace.

As we embark on an exciting phase of growth, including the expansion of Art, STEM, PE, and Games programs with the acquisition of new playing fields, this is an ideal opportunity to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching children in KS1 and a strong foundation in core subjects. There may also be opportunities for professional growth and experience teaching throughout the school.

In addition to a competitive salary, staff members enjoy benefits such as private medical insurance, complimentary lunch, and secure parking.

At Norfolk House School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. As part of our recruitment process, applicants will undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). We may also conduct online searches on shortlisted candidates and request details of their online profiles.

The safeguarding responsibilities of the post are stated in full in the job description.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

To apply, please submit your application to Sarah Graham at info@norfolkhouseschool.co.uk by Friday, May 17th, 12pm.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team

Norfolk House School is a mixed, independent primary school for children aged 3-11, occupying a large period house in Edgbaston, Birmingham.   The history of Norfolk House School dates back more than 70 years. Originally called Garry House School, it moved to its present location in 1963 and was re-founded in 1967 as Norfolk House School.

The school is now owned by the Challinor family, a member of which has been on the board of directors since 1967.

Values and vision

Inspiring, achieving, and supporting are key components of Norfolk House School’s vision. In its Mission Statement, the school states its aim to encourage its pupils to develop “an enquiring mind within a family environment where they feel valued, fulfilled, confident and emotionally literate.” The school limits its intake to ensure that class numbers are small enough to allow close personal attention to be given to every pupil and to maintain very high standards of work.

The school aims to offer not only a first-rate academic education, but also a complete social education which emphasises good manners, mutual respect and self-discipline. Opportunities to develop social responsibility extend beyond the classroom with participation in visits and schemes designed to broaden pupils’ horizons.

ISI

“The outcomes for children are outstanding. Most children, including the more able, make excellent progress in line with their ability and from their individual starting points. Effective teaching provides children with interesting learning activities and, combined with the high level of care afforded by the dedicated staff, enables children to achieve high standards.”
