Salary information: Scale 5; £19,494 - £ 20,566 per annum plus Special schools allowance £1,026;
Working hours: 32.5 hours per week, Term time only plus 5 training days (39 weeks);
Start Date: ASAP.

Meadow High School is a special needs school which provides education for secondary aged students aged 11-19 years with complex and moderate learning difficulties, including challenging behaviour and autism.

You must have:

  • Previous experience of worked based learning and at least basic understanding of pupils with SEN.
  • Relevant coaching experience.
  • The ability to support interns in securing internal and external placements.
  • Be a driver and willing to drive to fulfil the requirements of this role.

Specific duties may include:

  • Identifying and developing students’ skills as needed for specific jobs and in building opportunities for the skills to be developed within the school environment and off site in placements.
  • Coaching students at their internal / external placements.
  • Planning and delivering sessions to groups or individual students.
  • Arranging appropriate placements for students, both internal and external.
  • Ensuring that a range of transactional resources are created (e.g. visual cue and sequences) for students to help them learn processes and gain independence in these skills.
  • Ensuring that pupils are adequately supported in learning the route to placements so they can independently travel to a job.
  • Supporting pupils in aspects of their personal hygiene and grooming to ensure they are appropriate and presentable for the work environment, including understanding any job specific requirements.
  • Sharing previous experience and knowledge of different working environments.
  • Providing in house training to job coach TA’s and relevant members of the team to develop their coaching  skills.
  • Assessing and keeping records of students’ progress and achievements in line with the school’s policy and procedures.
