Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an innovative, inspiring and well qualified Secondary Maths Teacher specialising in Social, Emotional and Mental Health to work at our nurturing and supportive small school. We are interested to hear from secondary qualified teachers with experience of teaching pupils with special educational needs.

The successful applicant would be expected to teach pupils aged 11-16 with a teacher to pupil ratio of 1:5. This role is being advertised as the school continues to expand the number of pupils on role. Pupils follow the Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 National Curriculum and the successful applicant would deliver Maths and Numeracy lessons in Key Stage 3 and teach qualifications including GCSEs in Maths, Statistics and Further Maths, if possible. We also offer an extensive range of weekly enrichment activities and educational visits for all our pupils.

Brenkley School is an Independent Special School that opened in September 2018 – the school’s previous name was ID Academy. Pupil attendance, engagement and academic results are excellent and we are extremely committed to ensuring high standards for the achievement and conduct of all of our pupils. The Proprietor and the Headteacher work together to ensure that they create a culture that enables pupils and staff to excel and our nurturing ethos supports pupils who have previously experienced trauma, missed significant periods of education or who have been too anxious to attend a mainstream school. In addition, three members of staff hold additional responsibilities as SENCO, Pastoral Leader and Lead Teacher for Science & Careers.
