Wishmore Cross Academy, is part of Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) and is a residential special school in Chobham, Surrey, for boys aged 9 to 16 years who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We can admit up to 70 boys and can offer up to 14 residential places (including extended days) on a flexible basis for up to 4 nights per week.
We provide a highly effective and individual package of education, care and pastoral support to young people who may have had only negative experiences of school. A safe, caring environment supported by high levels of staffing ensures each pupil has the opportunity to make progress and achieve their full potential. We are a good school with outstanding features and we invest, not only in our students, but also our staff by providing regular CPD opportunities. The academy is situated within easy reach of the M25 and M3 and, although in Surrey, is very close to Berkshire and Hampshire.
We are looking for a passionate, motivated and dedicated Apprentice Learning Support Assistant to work in partnership with teaching and other educational support staff. You will provide learning support for pupils, working with them as directed by teaching staff within a structured teaching situation or individually as required in accordance with academy policies and procedures.
You will complete a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard and have the opportunity to gain a Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in the Schools. You may also be required to complete English, Maths and IT Functional Skills (this will be determined by existing qualifications). Your Trainer/Assessor will assess you in the workplace on a monthly basis. In between these meetings you will have dedicated time away from your job to work on the apprenticeship and collate evidence for your apprenticeship e-portfolio with ongoing support from your Manager and Trainer/Assessor.
This is an exciting opportunity to be in a real job, with real variety, from day one whilst working towards a qualification!
To be eligible for the Apprenticeship, applicants must have resided in the UK or EEA for 3 years prior to the start of the Apprenticeship.
Please note: applicants must not have already completed a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship.
This will be a fixed term position and the duration of the apprenticeship will be determined by the job role and current skills. The minimum length of the apprenticeship will be one year and one week.
Please note: AET has their own in house apprenticeship scheme and do not work with any other training providers to deliver Apprenticeships.
As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them. In each of our academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes. You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan and childcare vouchers.
This position is required to commence September 2018.
Closing date: Friday 31 August 2018.
