In 2022, Catherine McAuley College will open its doors to the inaugural cohort of Year 7 students, in order to meet the growing demand for a quality, Catholic Education in the Mackay region.    

Built on the former site of the historic Mackay Sugar Research Institute, our brand new college will offer first class facilities to cater for staff and students to ensure the delivery of quality teaching and learning practices.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the foundation staff of Catherine McAuley College as Library Manager.


About the role

As an inaugural member of the College team, you will be working with the school principal, to provide support to the college community to ensure the effective operation of library services for both staff and students.

This is a term-time continuing position for 30hpw and will commence from 5 October 2021.


Duties performed include, but are not limited to:

  • Practice confidentiality in relation to all aspects of the role.
  • Search and verify bibliographic data where some discretion and judgement are involved.
  • Copy catalogue books, magazines, journals and recorded material where some discretion  and judgement are involved. 
  • Maintain circulation systems where some discretion and judgement are involved.
  • Respond to enquiries from staff, students, parents and the general public and address issues in accordance with routines, methods and procedures.
  • Responsibility for and/or training of subordinate staff in limited areas may be required.
  • Within a variety of routines and procedures and with a depth of knowledge in some areas, demonstrate complex audio visual or computer equipment to staff and students; or monitor performance of specialised equipment.

About You

The successful applicant will have an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic education. In addition you will have excellent time management skills, well developed interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of computer skills. 

Tertiary qualifications at Associate Diploma/Diploma level or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience relevant to the position is required.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Tertiary qualifications at Associate Diploma/Diploma level or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience relevant to the position is required.
