Job overview

St George Madrid is a well established school located in a prime educational zone to the North of the capital. The school is a part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP). This is a collection of 81 schools across 21 countries with a united focus on how to grow internationally minded students through strategic outstanding practice. St George Madrid operates on a large campus with many new and developing facilities. The school has seen significant growth in recent years, with potential for more. The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner, preferably with experience of teaching Mathematics across the secondary phase up to the end of Key Stage 5 (Year 13). We follow the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, followed by IGCSE at Key Stage 4 and the IB Diploma programme in our Sixth Form (Key Stage 5). Experience of teaching across this range would be a distinct advantage. We offer Mathematics A&I (SL) and A&A (SL & HL) in the IB Diploma and there is an expectation that the successful candidate would take at least one of these classes. Training would be provided for teachers who would like to develop to teach the IB Diploma programme so long as they have the mathematical knowledge required at this level. There are also middle leadership positions on both curriculum and pastoral teams available, which the successful candidate may also be interested in applying for as a separate part of the application process. Please indicate in your application if you have an interest in such a position.

As part of the secondary team, the successful candidate would be expected to assist with developing the school's Mathematics programme working within and as a member of our Mathematics department. As an international school we expect all of our staff to commit to the life of the school, through our after-school programme and events and activities going on throughout the year. A commitment to educating the whole child, emphasis on high levels of pastoral care and an inclusive approach to education will be of the utmost importance as we make the final appointment. We are proud that we add great value to the children in our care, whatever their background, and it is important to us that they are all successful. As our students come to us from a range of different backgrounds and with varying needs, an interest in raising attainment across all ability levels is very important. Candidates will also need to demonstrate evidence of being strong team players as well as the ability to adapt quickly to new situations, with a flexible approach to problem solving. If you are committed to child centred education, with a deep rooted desire to help every child reach their potential and are interested in helping shape the future development of an international school we would be delighted to hear from you. You can find out more about our schools by visiting our website https://stgeorgemadrid.com/

Initial interviews will be held virtually on a rolling basis with a face-to-face meeting for shortlisted candidates whenever possible in Madrid or London. Please note that this is a re-advertisement and previous applicants need not apply again. The closing date for applications is Monday 6th May and we are looking to recruit for the start of the new school year in September. Please upload a recent CV as a supporting document with your application. We reserve the right to make an appointment for the right candidate before the closing date.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care and expects all applicants to share this commitment. We follow safe recruitment practice and appointments are subject to an interview, satisfactory references and criminal record checks.
