St Philip’s School is a special school and offers places to 185 pupils aged 9 to 19 with a wide range of ability levels and additional needs including complex autism.

 

The School is located on a spacious green site in Chessington, in the Royal Borough of Kingston and has extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities, vocational facilities and a dedicated pupil support team offering a range of therapies.

 

Dedicated staff are able to support pupils to develop at their own pace due to small class size whether following academic pathways or vocational skills. We are seeking to appoint an exceptional teacher who will be able to deliver music to key stage 2, 3 and 4 pupils within our popular and successful specialist setting.  

Applications are invited from hard-working, experienced, committed, and motivated practitioners from special or mainstream backgrounds. Some experience of Special Educational Needs will be an advantage, but not essential. However, a keen interest in developing your professional knowledge and understanding of young people who have moderate learning difficulties and ASD or other complex needs, is essential!

This role will require the successful candidate to work with pupils who have a range of sensory and physical needs identified in their EHCP.  

The successful candidate will:

v help to prepare activities for the pupils’ educational and developmental needs.

v promote appropriate behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.

v support the school ethos by promoting a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment.

v promote the inclusion of all pupils.

v be aware of, and comply with, all school policies and procedures; particularly relating to child protection, first aid, health, safety and security, confidentiality, data protection, reporting any concerns to the relevant person.
