Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Pastoral Support Assistant to join our popular and over-subscribed school. An imperative is a commitment to support our work establishing and promoting a visible culture of safeguarding across the whole school community. This is a pupil-facing role suitable for a non-teacher. The role of Pastoral Support Assistant will be attached to a particular Key Stage. At present, this will most probably be KS5 (Sixth Form) although this is flexible. The excellent attitudes and behaviour of our students will enable you to support all stakeholders to overcome barriers to learning.

In return, we offer candidates:

• an ambitious school that is committed to achieving its vision;

• a caring culture based on shared values;

• fantastic, engaged students;

• friendly, professional and well-qualified colleagues;

• the opportunity to be part of a wider community of colleagues, parents and Governors;

• excellent CPD and opportunities for career progression;

• strong support as part of a flourishing and successful Multi-Academy Trust, River learning Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to our successful and ambitious school.

The role of the Pastoral Support Assistant means that there may be times when you are requested to attend planned meetings and respond to MASH enquires during the school holidays. These are managed by the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), the DDSL and the Safeguarding Team.

Ofsted report

“All students make good progress from their starting points. Most teaching is good and some is outstanding. Teachers’ subject knowledge is strong and lessons are well planned. The sixth form is good. Students are well supported to make informed choices about their next steps in education, training or employment. Very varied and effective opportunities are given for students to develop their spiritual, social, moral and cultural awareness. As a result, students work very well together, and relationships are harmonious and respectful."
