Physical Education Teacher at Brookes SAVVIN 2023/2024

The position of Physical Education Teacher reports to the Head of SAVVIN Campus. The main purpose of the job is teaching Physical Education at Brookes SAVVIN to work with young children (PN-Y2) of varying abilities to promote their physical development, through sports, active games, swimming and dance.

Essential Requirements:

·     Teaching qualification: Fully Qualified Teacher with relevant degree in Early Education, BEd, PGDE (Primary or PE) or PGCE (PE specialisation is an advantage);

·     Previous experience of teaching young children;

·     Ability, patience and creativity to teach young age-groups (2 years – 7 years).

·     A broad knowledge and skill set to lead a wide range of physical development activities;

·     Ability to teach swimming;

·     Ability to adapt to a changing environment and demonstrate flexibility in lessons;

·     Ability to bring a high level of enthusiasm and energy into lessons;

·     A strong understanding of child development (2-7 years);

·     Willingness to work collaboratively and contribute to PHE development across our Moscow campuses;

·     A consistent commitment to high levels of pastoral care; 

·     Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English;

·     Positive and innovative mindset even in challenging situations;

·     Expectations of high standards of learning and behaviour from students; and the ability to challenge and support all students on an individual basis;

·     A willingness to contribute to the wider school community;

·     Caring nature towards students and families;

·     Compliant with Child Safeguarding Requirements.

Responsibilities:

·     To ensure high quality PE lessons by adapting what is being taught to suit individual learning needs of students;

·     To teach swimming lessons and ensure safety of pupils;

·     To set up equipment for PE lessons;

·     To maintain an inventory of all PE equipment and ensure it is safe and well maintained;

·     To plan high quality lessons in line with EYFS and PYP principles and curriculum outcomes;

·     To be aware of safety in all environments;

·     To take a leading role in the school’s extra-curricular activities programme;

·     Be a sporting role model to the students and contribute to a strong sporting ethos within the school;

·     To consistently set high standards and expectations for learning:

·     To liaise with the Head of PE at Brookes Moscow and be available to support fixtures and tournaments;

·     Correspond with parents to report progress in lessons and teams and create sporting ethos among the families of our school.
