Bloomsbury International School Hatyai seeks a caring, diligent and enthusiastic primary teacher to join our team for the next academic year.

Job starts: August 14th 2024

Location: Hatyai, Thailand.

Contract Type: Full Time

Contract Term: 2 years, with a further 2-year contract extension available thereafter.

Principal: Mr. David Tansey

Located in the city of Hatyai in southern Thailand, Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is a co-educational International Independent School. Bloomsbury was founded in 2016 and offers a British style curriculum to both day and boarding students. Our Primary School is small with around 130 students, but this is expanding on a weekly basis due to our growing reputation. We are a caring, kind team, committed to every student achieving their very best. The students here universally want to do well, and all interactions are based upon obvious and clear respect.

We have received our full accreditation from CIS, one of only 20 schools in Thailand to achieve this accolade. This is a great place to work, alongside a fully qualified, dedicated and friendly staff team.

The Position

The Primary department has gained a reputation for excellence within the local community, and we wish the new teachers to develop that good practice still further. We have a well established and clear curriculum, based upon the English National Curriculum. We use Talk for Writing and White Rose Maths. Pupils in Years 5 and 6, bring their own device to school and we fully embed Technology for Learning into most lessons when it enhances the learning. Our prime role is to develop the use of English in every lesson, as the vast majority of our students speak English as an additional language. Talk for Writing is central to our work and therefore a commitment to learning or better still experience of using it would be an advantage.

As we are a small school, all of our staff need to be an integral part of the team. We have one class in each year but work collaboratively to develop our provision.

We have some flexibility across the primary school as to where the successful candidate will teach, so please state your preference in your letter.

Key Information

All international staff are expected to be completely fluent in English.

The successful candidate will:

• Have UK qualified teacher status or equivalent.

• Have a professional manner and the ability to communicate clearly and well

• Be approachable, knowledgeable and committed to academic and personal excellence

• Be caring and ready to collaborate in a professional team

Hatyai is located in southern Thailand, only 40 minutes' drive from the nearest beach in Songkhla Town and within easy reach of Krabi, Phuket, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Koh Samui and Koh Lipe, as well as Penang and Langkawi across the border in Malaysia. The international airport offers 16 flights per day to Bangkok and daily flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, both of which are only a short distance away, opening up the rest of Asia. It is easy to spend your weekends or holidays exploring this beautiful part of the world.

Hatyai itself is an up and coming city without the high cost of living found in other more well known destinations in Thailand. There are large western style malls and supermarkets, and many bars and restaurants providing a range of international food, yet Hatyai retains a very 'Thai' feel and the population are very friendly and helpful, welcoming people with the famous 'Thai Smile'.
