Job overview

We are looking for an RE Teacher in a new school which offers excellent opportunities for professional development. The new post-holder will be a strong classroom practitioner, or newly qualified teacher, with a commitment to achieving the highest standards both academically and in terms of the learning habits and personal dispositions of our students.

Ealing Fields High School is the most recent member of the Twyford Trust family of schools. It was opened as a Free School in 2016 by a group of parents with a strong desire to provide an excellent new school for the South Ealing community, and became part of the Twyford CE Academies Trust on 1st September 2017. Ealing Fields has quickly assimilated the same systems and resources as the two existing Twyford Trust schools (William Perkin and Twyford CE High Schools, both of which are Ofsted ‘Outstanding’). Ealing Fields is also the smallest of the Trust schools, with only 120 in each year group and therefore has a very compact community identity.  Relations between staff and students are very positive and it is easy for every member of the school to be well known by all of the staff. Staff joining at this time are likely to have a highly motivated drive towards building an outstanding school community within an already highly successful Trust.

This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic teacher as we prepare our students for GCSE and beyond (the school’s first GCSEs will be in 2021). With our oldest Year group starting Year 9 in September 2018 this post is ideally suited to a teacher who is passionate about curriculum design and development, especially at KS4 and KS5. The post-holder will be joining an innovative, ambitious and energetic staff group that seeks to deliver an outstanding curriculum, and will be well supported by an experienced Senior Leadership Team.

We work collaboratively, within the school and with our sister school, Twyford CE High School, to create courses which inspire, challenge and nurture students of all abilities. Our curriculum is driven by sharply focused learning outcomes leading to thorough subject knowledge and sustained progress.  We assess our students rigorously and regularly, with students working towards GCSE and A-level assessment objectives even at KS3. This ensures that there is sustained development of key skills and depth of knowledge required for them to be successful throughout their schooling.

For more information about school please see the Twyford Trust and Ealing Fields websites, and for more information about the role please see the Job Description, and the Ealing Fields 2018: information for candidates document, on the Twyford Trust website at: http://www.twyfordacademies.org.uk/recruitment/vacancies

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Ability to teach RE to GCSE and ideally to KS5
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum
  • An understanding of recent curriculum/learning developments
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
  • Energy and enthusiasm
  • A commitment to the ethos of the school.

The role is suitable for NQT and RQT applicants.

We offer:

  • Exceptional professional development and career progression
  • Positive working relationships at all levels
  • A supportive and lively Leadership Team
  • A full-range of Trust services providing support and      development.

About Ealing Fields High School

Ealing Fields High School is  part of the Twyford CofE Trust which is the highest performing Trust  in the country.  The school, and Trust, offers good promotion prospects  for motivated and energetic leaders who support the ethos of our  schools.

Ealing Fields High School

Ealing Fields High School was opened as a Free School in 2016 and became part of the Twyford CE Academies Trust on 1st September 2017.  Ealing Fields is the smallest of the Trust schools,  with only 150 in each Year Group and therefore often feels more like a  family than a school.  The staff community is very positive, highly  motivated and fully engaged in professional development.   The school moved to its brand-new permanent site in Northfields in September 2020 and achieved a Progress 8 score of +1.34 in 2022 and 2023 and +1.3 in 2024.  The team at Ealing Fields is particularly proud of the fact that there  were virtually no gaps in the attainment of boys and girls or advantaged  and disadvantaged students; this reflects our relentless commitment to  providing the best possible education for  all students.

Ealing Fields High School is consulting on its Admissions policy for entry into Year 7 in September 2026 to include ‘Children of Staff’ places. If, as we expect, the proposal is approved, the admissions policy will include the following criterion: ‘Children of all staff’ where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made or where the member of staff has been recruited to a post where there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
