Job overview

We are looking to appoint an impressive Sports Teacher on a 1 year contract

September 2024 start

Would you like to work in a positive and inspiring learning environment? Are you able to inspire your pupils to achieve their potential? Would you like the opportunity to join a highly successful Surrey independent preparatory school?  This exciting, full-time post is available from September 2024 on a one year contract basis and offers the chance for a committed and innovative sports professional to join our successful sports department.

We are a highly successful Surrey prep school, providing all-round education and development enabling our pupils to achieve excellent outcomes, in terms of high exam results, entry to fine senior schools, scholarships and awards and, most importantly of all, rounded characters, capability and confidence as young men with the world at their feet. Set on a private estate near Kingston, you will be close to Richmond Park and the River Thames, yet within short travelling distance into central London.  We have our own dedicated sports field approximately 15 minutes away.

We pride ourselves on the way in which we educate and support all our boys at Rokeby, and we offer an inclusive learning environment. You will be an established sports practitioner who is passionate about bringing out the brilliant in each and every boy. You will be creative in your approach, comfortable with embracing technology and committed to our whole school ethos and values. You will need to have experience in teaching or coaching at least one of our key sports of rugby, football and cricket and be able to support an extensive PE programme.

This post would suit a sports specialist with qualified teacher status (QTS) and a particular passion for inspiring a love of sport and activity across our age ranges (Reception to Year 8). This position is suitable for ECTs.

We offer excellent training and CPD opportunities, fee discount for children at Rokeby, excellent staff lunches and an inclusive and diverse workplace. Salary according to Rokeby pay scale.

Closing date: noon, Thursday 23rd May 2024; interviews week of 3rd June 2024.

Please note: early applicants will be considered favourably and we will interview suitable candidates earlier than the closing date if applications are received beforehand. We reserve the right to appoint prior to closing date.

Rokeby School, George Road, Kingston upon Thames KT2 7PB Telephone: 020 8942 2247

Rokeby School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects its entire staff to share its commitment. In this role you will be in regulated activity and therefore the successful applicant will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records bureau disclosure. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

Short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.

Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the subsequent Exceptions Orders, all positions within the School are exempt. Further information on these points and our other general recruitment practices are in our Recruitment of Staff Policy on our website.
