Job overview

Leeds City College have a new opportunity for a Teacher of Horticulture. This role is part time, 22.2 hours per week.

Horticulture is a new curriculum area for The School of Land and Animal Science. We are looking for a teacher to deliver courses based at the picturesque Temple Newsam campus, a large 1000-acre country estate based in Leeds. The successful candidate will deliver theory and practical sessions on site at Temple Newsam, there will also be some requirement to teach at our Printworks campus. 


Role and Responsibilities

 Main tasks may include but are not limited to: -

  • Preparation and delivery of theory and practical sessions
  • Undertaking assessments
  • Marking learner work and providing timely feedback
  • Attending departmental meetings
  • Be responsible for recording learner progress
  • This role includes responsibility for a tutor group


Skills and Qualifications

  • Hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) (or be willing to work towards)
  • Have a relevant highest level vocational qualification or degree in teaching science as a subject
  • Recent teaching delivery in relevant subject area which demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles
  • Knowledge of current teaching practices and experience of utilising a range of teaching practices to enhance learner journey and progression
  • Experience of positively managing student progression, advice and guidance in a school or Further Education setting
