Position Information 

Monaro High School is a comprehensive rural high school located in Cooma that proudly serves the communities of the Monaro district. Our 382 students from Year 7 -12 come from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds providing an inclusive and diverse school community. The school offers a quality academic, vocational curriculum and student wellbeing support to accommodate all students. Monaro High School is committed to gaining the best possible educational outcomes for all students, with the school’s current strategic directions of Student Growth and Attainment, High Impact Teaching and Wellbeing core to our practice.

 Monaro High School boasts state of the art facilities thanks to recently completed, multi-million dollar upgrade. Facilities include a 350 seat performing arts centre, innovation hub including professional standard recording and digital media studios and indoor 3 court sports centre. Specialised outdoor play area for students with disabilities and contemporary teaching spaces throughout the school. 

 Monaro High benefits from being situated in the beautiful town of Cooma. It is conveniently situated between Canberra, the Snowy Mountains and the South Coast, making opportunities to ski, surf or shop in a major city only a short drive away. The town has access to Cooma Regional Airport and Canberra International Airport is only an hour away, making quick connection to the town and the rest of the world.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach Music (7-12). Approval and/or willingness to teach Music Extension 1 and 2.

Capacity to create a strong performance culture which encourages students to actively participate in music and performance events.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create positive relationships with students, staff and members of the community.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
