Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a well-qualified and engaged Teacher of Computer Science from September 2023 to join a school based in Portsmouth. 

The successful candidate will contribute to providing an excellent education for all the school’s pupils, offering support to individual students. They will also contribute to the school’s caring and effective pastoral system. Applicants should be able to teach their inquisitive and confident students from Key Stage 3 to 5. 

The additional responsibility of school Digital Lead is also on offer for experienced and knowledgeable teachers able to share best practice in the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning using digital resources.

The Department:

Computer Science is a popular subject taught in a spacious, dedicated IT suite equipped with Lenovo desktop computers which pupils can use in addition to their own devices. At Key Stage 4, the school currently teach using the OCR J277 GCSE syllabus and have an excellent uptake of students at this level. They also offer AQA A-level to sixth form students at Key Stage 5.

The school is located in Southsea, an attractive region on the south coast which has retained much of its original Georgian character. Transport links (road, rail and sea) are excellent allowing easy access to South Downs and London. The school is a dynamic place to work, offering a range of career opportunities and benefits and is committed to staff wellbeing.
