Queensbridge School is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary school in the Moseley suburb of Birmingham. Originally built in the 1950s, the school now has approximately 700 pupils aged 11-16. It is a specialist college in visual and performing arts.

Queensbridge School enjoys close working relations with Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Royal Shakespeare Company. The area of Moseley has served as a source for literary inspiration: JRR Tolkien based the tranquil Shire in The Lord of the Rings on Sarehole Mill.

Values and vision

Queensbridge understands its responsibility to students in providing a moral, compassionate education that prepares them for the wider world. Part of this is the fostering of strong relationships, within the school and the Moseley community.

Staff at Queensbridge understand the importance of academic achievements, and that success here can shape future careers. In its role as a specialist arts college, the secondary school encourages students in creative endeavours, both for educational benefit and as an expressive outlet.

More than half of students attend a residential experience each year, such as sailing and trips abroad. The design technology and PE facilities have recently undergone extensive upgrades.

Ofsted report

“Teachers have very high expectations for what students can achieve. Students respond very well to their challenge and make excellent contributions to their own and each other’s learning. They grasp enthusiastically all opportunities to work in pairs and groups, or independently.”
