Lady Manners School is a vibrant and successful mixed comprehensive in the heart of the stunning Peak District. We are a Foundation school with 1414 students on roll, including 230 in the Sixth form. Our students and staff make this a wonderful place to work.


Due to the increase of numbers at GCSE, this part-time post provides an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and committed teacher to join a highly successful department, with supportive, experienced and friendly colleagues, where professional development for staff is encouraged and we all work together to provide the best possible experience for students. This is an exciting time to join the modern languages department, as we have expanded our language provision to include three languages (French, German and Spanish), having introduced Spanish to the curriculum in September 2021.

The successful candidate will be: 

• a well-qualified languages teacher who can teach two of; French, German or Spanish

• able to teach both languages to GCSE and one language up to A level

• able to inspire students of all abilities and ages to achieve their highest potential

• committed to delivering high quality teaching and learning

• able to work well as part of a team

• well aware of the importance of safeguarding children

School Organisation 

The school is organised into:

  • Lower School (Years 7-9) Key Stage 3
  • Upper School (Years 10-11) Key Stage 4
  • Sixth Form (Years 12-13) Key Stage 5

Each has a Head of School, Heads of Year, and Form Tutors.   

We have a strong team of support staff, including specialist finance, premises, catering and technical staff, all of whom are employed directly by the school. 

Curriculum 

Teaching is organised through subject specific departments, each with a Curriculum Leader.   

The Lower School curriculum provides a broad and interesting education for all students.  In Upper School the core curriculum contains English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Studies, PE, PSHE and Citizenship.  Choice is introduced through four subject options but students are encouraged to ensure that their curriculum remains broad and balanced by considering creative, humanities and language subjects.  

We currently offer 29 subjects for study at Key Stage 4 and 28 in the Sixth Form, including academic and vocational subjects.
