King David High School is a Jewish faith-based school in South Liverpool and serving the needs of the Jewish and wider-community.

We are seeking to an appoint an outstanding candidate to join our Mathematics department within the Maths and Science Faculty at King David High School. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hard-working, enthusiastic and ambitious classroom practitioner who is committed to ensuring that all students fulfil their academic potential at every key stage.

King David High School has a strong tradition of academic excellence. Our examination results and value added are well above the national average. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to teach outstanding lessons. In return, they can expect well-motivated pupils and supportive colleagues.

The Maths and Science faculty as a whole is a warm and supportive team that plays a key role in the school consistently attaining some of the highest progress scores in the city.

Mathematics is taught in sets throughout Key Stages 3 and 4, with four or five classes in each year group. Pupils have 5 x 50-minute lessons in years 10 and 11 and 4 x 50-minute lessons in years 7, 8 and 9. In KS3 we follow the White Rose Maths scheme of work and in KS4 pupils are entered for the Pearson Edexcel GCSE, with the majority sitting Higher Tier. Results are significantly above the national average. In the Sixth Form, students are entered for Pearson Edexcel A levels in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Mathematics is increasingly popular – with two A level groups in both Years 12 and 13. Results are very good.

At King David we pride ourselves on our strong Jewish ethos and we expect all our students and staff to embody the school motto, "let there be light through faith and work," in everything that we do. Our principal aims are to always strive for improvement and to ensure that students and staff are happy and successful. Introduction and Background Information

King David High School

A Voluntary Aided Jewish faith based school supported by the King David & Harold House Foundation.

Our vision is:

“Excellence in lifelong education for the Jewish and wider community by collaboration with other schools and the whole community”

King David High School was founded in 1840 and moved to its present site in 1957. Since then it has served the City of Liverpool as a faith based school of Jewish foundation accepting pupils of other faiths and with a provision for pupils who have shown potential and aptitude for music.

Our aims are:

  • To provide a stimulating and enriching Jewish and secular education for all Jewish children in Liverpool
  • To provide an education of quality and relevance to non-Jewish pupils
  • To demonstrate the finest standards of multi faith and multicultural education by cultivating the distinctive qualities of the cultures within the school rather than by blurring their distinctions
  • To provide a broad and balanced curriculum to enable our pupils to achieve their full potential

The High School is situated on a large Jewish Campus. King David High School, King David Primary School, Harold House Youth and Community Centre with playing fields are all situated on one campus on Childwall Road, a major route into the city of Liverpool.  Our links with the Jewish community and wider community are strong.  The challenges ahead are to focus on developing the learning and teaching agenda, use of enhanced ICT Facilities due to the move to better facilities with greater opportunities to transform learning and teaching and ensuring achievement and standards remain high for all pupils in our outstanding school

King David High School has a key role to play in the education of young people in Liverpool. It is a high achieving school. We have a comprehensive intake but most of our pupils are above average attainment when they arrive in Year 7.  Two thirds of our pupils come from King David Primary School.

We underwent an OFSTED inspection June 2010. We were judged as Outstanding.  A Maths inspection in November 11 also judged the school to be outstanding in this area.
