Job overview
Hampton Court House is an award-winning independent co-educational day school for ages 2 – 18, educating children and young people from pre-nursery to Year 13. The majority of our 300+ pupils elect to stay on to complete their full education with us, enjoying high levels of academic success in their GCSEs and A levels, and at Oxbridge and Russell Group university entry.
Together with deep academic rigour, we strive to lay the foundation of a lifelong love of learning, and it is important to us that children enjoy being here and look forward to coming to school. Our non-uniform parkland campus, in which staff and pupils alike are addressed on a first-name basis, cultivates an atmosphere in which our pupils can explore their curiosity, individuality and style with taste and discretion.
We seek an excellent, highly qualified teacher of maths and computer science to be a part of a thriving and successful school, from September 2024.
The successful candidate could be required to teach maths anywhere from Year 5 to Year 13, and computer science from Year 5 to Year 9. We would be keen to meet existing maths teachers who are looking to extend their teaching into a second subject and have less experience in computer science. Full training in the curriculum will be provided if necessary.
The role will report to the Assistant Principal and Head of Mathematics. We would consider both part-time and full-time applicants, with working patterns negotiable for the right candidate.
We are looking for someone with:
· A passion for mathematics and/or computer science and the teaching of those subjects as well as educating, inspiring and understanding children and teenagers;
· Excellent subject knowledge;
· A love of learning and a commitment to continued professional development;
· A drive to inspire and challenge children and teenagers, both inside the classroom and out;
· A desire to participate actively in the life of a busy and ambitious school;
· A belief that every pupil can succeed beyond their expectations;
· A sense of adventure and humour;
· An interest in the peoples, cultures and languages of the world.
The postholder will be also expected to:
· Run at least one co-curricular club throughout the school year;
· Participate in range of enriching, subject-focused trips and visits throughout the school year;
· Help run subject interventions and clinics as needed;
· Attend parents' and options evenings as required;
· Other reasonable duties as directed by the Principal and Senior Leadership Team.
Applications are welcomed from colleagues in both the independent and state-maintained sectors.
Due to the large number of applications the school receives, please be aware that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted to be invited for an interview.
Early applications are encouraged. We retain the right to appoint a suitable candidate before the closing date.
Hampton Court House is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children. The school is registered with the DBS and successful applicants will be required to successfully complete the Disclosure procedure at the Enhanced level. It is an offence for a person barred from working with children to apply for this post. Hampton Court House will carry out online checks of candidates of information available in the public domain as part of the recruitment process. Hampton Court House is committed to Equal Opportunities and strives to achieve inclusivity and diversity within our community. Therefore, we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
