Job overview

We would like to appoint a well qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Modern Foreign Languages. The ability to teach French and Spanish at both Key Stage 3 and 4 is desirable. Applications are welcome from newly qualified as well as from experienced teachers. The post is part time and temporary.

The Modern Languages Department is a friendly and supportive department, which is highly regarded for the quality of teaching and learning. There is a consistency running throughout the department in terms of approach to KS3 and embedding the GCSE strands from the early years. Engagement and challenge are key drivers in lesson planning and collaborative planning is regular to ensure high quality lessons are in place for all our learners. The department works rigorously to ensure that innovative ideas and approaches appeal to students and engage all.

Students in KS3 are given either French or Spanish and are taught for two periods a week. Students at KS4 are advised in many cases and encouraged to continue with a language. We have on average 50% of the cohort continuing with a language. At KS5 we have small numbers of students who take an A level in French or Spanish. GCSE results have consistently been in line with the national average and A level outcomes also have similar success.

We have had previous trips to France, Spain and Italy. We are planning to enhance the language experience of our students through future adventures in the language of study.

Trinity is a successful and friendly 11-18 mixed comprehensive school of 1700 students; this includes a Sixth Form of just over 350. We offer excellent induction, support and professional development.

Details and an application form can also be downloaded from the vacancies link on the school website www.trinity.cumbria.sch.uk

The closing date is 9.00am, Monday 10th June 2024.
