Job overview

Millthorpe School is seeking to appoint an inspirational teacher to join our Modern Foreign Languages department. We are looking for a highly motivated colleague, with a proven record or the promise of outstanding practice, to enable our students to be the best that they can be. There is also the potential for a TLR for the right candidate, to lead the subject area.

An accomplished Modern Foreign Languages specialist, you must be a highly effective teacher, with the ability to teach across age ranges and abilities. You must be competent to teach both French and German at KS3, and at least one of these subjects, or preferably both, to GCSE level. You will be committed to ensuring the highest standards for our young people to support their future learning and adult life.

Currently, all students study French or German in KS3 and the more able students (around 50-60% of the cohort) are expected to study French or German GCSE.

Millthorpe is a popular and successful school rooted in its community close to the heart of the historic city of York. You will be joining a warm, inclusive and motivated team of over 100 colleagues. In addition to this, the Trust offers a range of staff benefits, including enrolment in the excellent Teachers’ Pension Scheme, 24/7 access to an employee assistance programme and a range of family friendly policies.

Interviews will be held on Friday 24 May 2024.
