Cheltenham College Preparatory School seeks to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic person to take on the role of a Year 3 or 4 Teaching Assistant from September 2024. The individual will engage and motivate pupils to reach their full potential, developing the independence, love of learning and maturity required to thrive in an outstanding school. A clear passion for supporting children of this age range is essential and will, in turn, be evident in the classroom and through 1:1 and small group interventions.

Working within the Lower School Department with a supportive and experienced team, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the dedication to provide outstanding pastoral care and support as a teaching assistant. The successful candidate will be hardworking, creative, forward thinking and proficient in resourcing activities for interventions and small group support, while working in consultation with teachers within the year group and the Head of Section. All teaching assistants support a class teacher and lead 1:1 and small group interventions, therefore playing an active and significant role in the development and improvement of the department and the academic and pastoral provision for the pupils.

The School offer:

  • A supportive, close-knit department and wider Common Room.
  • Pupils who are enthusiastic and highly motivated with a love of learning.
  • Excellent location with beautiful buildings and grounds, well-equipped classrooms with an extended focus on music, art, drama and sport.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our pupils.
  • A commitment to regular and relevant CPD throughout the year.

The School expects:

  • Confidence in applying numbers and writing the English language.
  • Experience of working with Key Stage 2 pupils.
  • The ability to form positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
  • A professional and positive attitude with a ‘can do’ approach.
  • A proactive approach to 1:1 and small group intervention work and support in the classroom.
