This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving co-educational independent day school on the outskirts of Bristol. We are looking for a dynamic and capable leader to join our talented team.

 

For September 2026, we require a highly proficient individual to lead our Faculty of Expressive and Performing Arts, which includes our PE, Drama and Music departments.

 

The successful applicant will be an outstanding teacher with significant experience across Years 7-13, the ability to teach GCSE and A level PE would be an advantage. They will be a great communicator and will value the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in this important role at Collegiate. This role will require energy, drive, the ability to work in and lead a team, and a positive, engaging personality.

 

The Director of Faculty will report to the Deputy Head, with the opportunity to lead the academic development of the faculty and work as part of an established and highly effective team, driving academic development across the whole school. It is envisaged that applicants for this post will see this role as a step on their way to a senior management position in due course. The willingness to contribute to the extracurricular life of this holistic school will be vital.

We are a thriving and happy co-educational day school for pupils aged 3 to 18, located just north of Bristol. At Collegiate we have approximately 800 pupils, with our Preparatory School accommodating pupils from Nursery to Year 6, and the Senior School accommodating students from Year 7 up to our Sixth Form. Our recent ISI report was outstanding.

Our holistic approach to education not only enables our students to excel academically, but we ensure activities beyond the classroom play an equally important part in their time here at Collegiate. Our beautiful 30-acre grounds and excellent facilities across all faculties allow pupils to explore a huge range of sporting, creative and extra-curricular activities, with a work hard, play hard philosophy bringing out the best in our students.

Pastoral care is core to Collegiate life and underpins all that we do. Across the whole school our supportive house system provides the structure through which we monitor and support the development, well-being and happiness of all of our young people.

With a shining sporting legacy, sport too plays a huge part in the life of our pupils. We encourage everyone to get involved because physical education is important for a healthy mind and allows each pupil to develop self-esteem and a strong team ethic.
