Wycombe Abbey seeks a caring and practical Resident Matron (Cloister) to play a key role in supporting the pastoral care and daily life of pupils within a busy boarding environment. This pivotal role contributes to creating a warm, well‑organised and welcoming House, helping ensure pupils feel supported, safe and able to thrive throughout their time at School.
Reports to: Housemistress (Cloister), working closely with the Senior Resident Matron.
Contract: This is a full‑time, permanent, term‑time contract. The first three months will be a probationary period.
Hours of Work: Term time only, plus sufficient time before the beginning and after the end of term to ensure the House is prepared. The Resident Matron will be on duty whilst in residence, with a 36‑hour period off each week agreed in discussion with the School.
Holiday: Included within School holiday periods, in line with the term‑time nature of the role.
As Resident Matron, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pastoral and practical aspects of boarding House life. Responsibilities include supervising pupils, providing support for unwell pupils, maintaining House routines, administering simple medication, overseeing laundry and housekeeping, supporting events and ensuring a warm and welcoming environment. This role is well suited to a proactive and caring individual who enjoys working with young people and contributing to a close‑knit community.
