The Governors and Headteacher wish to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Computer Science to join our incredibly successful team at The Hollyfield School. Our Computer Science department has an excellent reputation and a history of excellence in examinations and digital innovation. Hollyfield acknowledges the vital importance of computing in developing young minds; the subject is taught by specialists throughout Key Stage 3 and is a popular choice at both GCSE and A Level.

Our department is committed to ensuring students are creators, not just consumers, of technology.   From physical computing with Micro:bits at KS3 to complex data structures at A- Level, we provide a curriculum that is both challenging and inclusive. We offer a range of extra-curricular opportunities, including Coding Club, CyberFirst challenges, and robotics competitions. We are proud of our links with the local tech community, ensuring our students are prepared for the wealth of opportunities that London’s "Silicon Roundabout" and the wider tech industry provide.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is committed to inspiring and motivating students through their innovative and engaging teaching. Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced practitioner, you will be supported by a school that puts student achievement and wellbeing at its heart.

The Hollyfield School has an extensive CPD programme which offers regular training sessions to enhance teachers’ classroom practice, led by staff from within the school and the wider Multi Academy Trust. Hollyfield is a beautiful school with a thriving sixth form, situated in the Surbiton area of Outer London. Excellent transport links enable our staff and young people to take full advantage of the cultural and professional opportunities of the capital.

"Pupils value their learning and relish the other important opportunities the school provides. These include many creative, sporting and performance activities." – Ofsted 2025.

The Successful Candidate will meet the following essential criteria:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).

  • A broad base of subject knowledge including programming (Python preferred), algorithms, and computer systems.

  • The ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

  • A clear vision for a knowledge-rich curriculum that bridges the gap between theory and practical application.

  • The ability to employ a range of teaching and learning strategies to make abstract concepts accessible.

  • A commitment to extra-curricular programmes, including STEM initiatives and lunchtime clubs.

  • The ability to maintain excellent classroom behaviour and a focused learning environment.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the desire to work effectively as part of a team.

  • The ability to demonstrate suitability to work with children and young people.

  •

The Trust provides excellent subject-level support, CPD, and Leadership CPD through several programmes externally and within the Trust.

This role is ideal for an individual who is committed to helping our students achieve their very best. We want the best people for our roles, so while this is primarily a full-time post, we recognise that sometimes those best suited to roles on offer aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us about the flexibility you may need.
