We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced University and Career Guidance Advisor who is a qualified teacher and preferably able to teach Secondary Art, History or English. 
Experience of working in an International school is an advantage.

University and Careers Guidance Advisor (Secondary Section)

Rainbow International School is a coeducational 2 – 18 years day and boarding school in Kampala, Uganda. As the most established, reputable and largest International school in the country, we deliver the EYFS and IPC curricula in the Primary section, English National curriculum at Key Stage 3 and Cambridge IGCSE and Advanced Level in Key Stages 4 and 5. We also offer BTEC Level 3 courses as an alternative pathway to University.&nbsp;The Post:We are looking for an experienced University and Career guidance advisor to guide and support students and parents on the university application process and process applications. We require someone who is familiar with the admissions systems of the UK, US and Canada, but experience with other countries is desirable. The successful candidate will lead presentations and workshops for students, parents and teachers, and oversee the production of essays, personal statements and letters of recommendations. We would like to appoint someone who has a demonstrable record of assisting students to gain admission to the best universities worldwide, as well as assisting them in gaining scholarships. The role will also involve organising university fairs and providing younger students with lessons in careers. A working knowledge of A Levels, BTEC and BridgeU is preferred, but not essential. However, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to prioritise their workload is necessary.&nbsp;Experience:·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Be passionate and committed&nbsp;·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;be fully qualified and experienced University and Career guidance advisor holding a relevant educational degree and professional qualification or certification·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the role of University and Career guidance advisor·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Have experience in advising students on the admissions process across Europe, USA, Canada and UK·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A working knowledge of Google Apps and the confidence to work with IT.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ability to teach a subject in Secondary is essential·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Be proficient in an additional language such as French, German or Spanish (desirable, but not essential)We require teachers who are:<ul><li>In possession of a minimum of three years teaching experience in the UK or overseas in a British curriculum school</li><li>Dedicated practitioners who strive to provide the very best learning opportunities they can for their students</li><li>Professional both in their conduct and appearance and fully committed to the life of the school (including being fully involved in enrichment/extra-curricular activities)</li><li>Open minded and flexible, willing to contribute ideas and fully support the strategic vision of the school</li><li>Hardworking, with the desire to make a difference and go the extra mile</li></ul>&nbsp;Qualifications:<ul><li>B.Ed. / PGCE / QTS in the relevant subject area or Educated to degree level together with a Postgraduate degree or PGDE/PGCE (essential)</li><li>Post graduate qualifications related to student support/Counselling or Education Management </li><li>A Level 6 Diploma in Careers Information and Advice (desirable but not essential)</li></ul>&nbsp;The package:<ul><li>Happy and motivated students in a welcoming and friendly environment</li><li>Competitive salary</li><li>Medical insurance</li><li>Two-year initial contract – renewable by mutual consent</li><li>Free furnished accommodation</li></ul>*Flights and baggage allowance at the beginning and end of contract (return flights annually from the second contract) for overseas hire&nbsp;Apply with the TES application form (insert application letter in the Supporting statement space in the form) and attach a detailed CV (with a passport photo on the top page).
