Sawtry Village Academy are looking to appoint an ambitious, hardworking and talented Assistant Principal, with a proven track record of success. This exciting opportunity will allow the post holder to lead students’ successes in both their academic achievement and all-round student experience.  It will also involve the line management of a curriculum area and a “House” within the school’s vertical tutoring system.  Applications from candidates with a subject expertise in physics or chemistry are particularly encouraged.  A substantive part of the role will be the leadership of student experience at the Academy and candidates with an unwavering commitment to extending the boundaries of learning is a pre-requisite for this role.  As a key member of the leadership team you would be responsible for the strategic direction of the school, have significant responsibilities and the opportunity to make a considerable impact on the future lives of our students. 

The focus of the selection process will be upon getting the right person- with the appropriate track record, skills, commitment and ambition. This position would be suitable for those wishing to take a step up from middle management.

The Assistant Principal role is ideally suited to anyone aspiring to Principal/Head teacher positions. Specific responsibilities will be tailored to the needs of the academy and the skills of the successful candidate. 

Sawtry Village Academy (SVA) was recently inspected by Ofsted which graded us GOOD across all measurable categories with an OUTSTANDING Post-16 provision.  In 2017 and 2018 we were above average for student progress at KS4; KS5 progress in 2017 and 2018 has been in the top 10% nationally.  Sawtry Village Academy, which is part of the successful and expanding Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT), offers opportunities to become part of a team of staff who are making a real difference to the students they teach.

Our buildings are undergoing a long term programme of refurbishment which has commenced with the construction of a £3 million classroom block.

Sawtry Village Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Cambridgeshire, serving students from the age of 11-18. The school, situated in Sawtry, Huntingdon, has over 900 students on record.

Sawtry Village Academy was awarded conversion to academy status in 2011 and  joined the the Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT) in 2015.  In February 2022, we announced a voluntary merger with the Cambridge Primary Education Trust (CPET) and to mark the merger and the growth of the Trust, we announced a new name, Meridian Trust.

In September 2023, Sawtry Village Academy was inspected by Ofsted which graded us GOOD across all measurable categories with an OUTSTANDING Post-16 provision.
