Job overview

Are you a committed teacher of Design and Technology keen to inspire children to design with creativity and skill?

We have a culture of high expectations and we are looking for a talented individual keen to join our Design Technology department. We are interested to hear from professionals interested in a temporary part-time position teaching pupils up to GCSE level.

Most importantly we are looking for someone with a real passion for D&T and an ambition to be the best teacher they can be. You would be joining a collaborative and committed department and supportive learning community. Whether you are at the beginning or your career or interested in a different opportunity as a more experienced colleague, we are keen to hear from you.

Bordering the Lakes and the Dales and yet surprisingly well-connected, for over 400 years we have forged a strong community ethos providing ‘Scholarship and Care’. We’re immensely proud of our commitment to the highest quality teaching and learning coupled with extraordinary pastoral care. We are a truly comprehensive community in which every child is cared for, supported and stretched, moving on to diverse destinations, from local apprenticeships and college courses to highly selective universities.

Building on our long successful history, we launched our sister school in September 2017 creating a small multi-academy trust of our 2 schools, the Lunesdale Learning Trust.   Within this context we can offer ample opportunities for professional development enabling you to fulfil your potential in our high performing, forward thinking community.

Applications are welcomed from well-qualified and highly motivated individuals who are keen to work with remarkable young people providing an exceptional education for all.

If you wish to apply, please complete all sections of the application form by Monday 4th December. In your supporting statement we would like you to include:

• why this particular job appeals to you.

• an outline of your relevant experience

• a discussion of the personal and professional qualities which you believe suit you for this post

We would encourage all potential applicants to read all the attached documents and to browse our websites to get a fuller flavour of life at this very special place.

We do hope you will take the time to apply. This is a marvellous place to work and this is a very exciting opportunity. If you require further information or wish to discuss any issues, please do feel free to get in touch on 015242 71275 or by email to recruitment@qes.org.uk In the meantime, good luck with your application. We look forward to meeting you in the near future.

Cathy O'Neill, Executive Headteacher

About Queen Elizabeth School

Queen Elizabeth School (QES), Kirkby Lonsdale, is an 11-18 co-ed, non-denominational, all ability school with a sister school, QEStudio, with its own building.   We serve a large, prosperous and beautiful area of South Lakeland, North Yorkshire and North Lancashire. Although a rural school, we are only 6 miles from the M6 and well connected to main line train stations, which helps explain the outward-looking vibrancy of Kirkby Lonsdale.

Queen Elizabeth School dates back to 1591 when we were granted our charter to provide ‘Scholarship and Care’, a promise we continue to deliver well into the 21st century.

In September 2017 QES developed as the Lunesdale Learning Trust to incorporate a new Free School, the QEStudio providing high quality professional, technical and vocational learning to over 300 14-18 year-olds. This is an innovative and exciting aspect of our provision in Key Stage 4 and 5 it is proving to be extremely popular with pupils and parents.
