Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-18, inner city school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We are a multicultural community school, which serves the local community, and we view this as one of our key strengths. We value the diversity of our school, and strive to ensure that our students feel represented, both at whole school level and within the curriculum.
Our students are well behaved and ambitious, and they also value the school. All visitors to the school always comment on the calm and productive atmosphere of lessons. Our last OfSTED inspection stated we were ‘outstanding’ across all areas.
At KS3 the Science team has developed a highly praised curriculum that engages and enthuses students to study science further. At KS4 students study either GCSE Combined Science or Triple Science. At KS5 we offer A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as BTECs in Applied Science and Applied Human Biology. These are all very popular subjects. In addition, those that study a science course at Key Stage 5 generally go on to study a related degree at university, including a substantial proportion of students gaining places at Russell Group Universities.
We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic colleague to join the Science team as a Senior Science technician. The team comprises teachers across all 3 disciplines, technicians and full time tutors, who all share a passion for both the subject and the students. In addition to this, we have outstanding facilities for our students and staff. The science department is well resourced and all teaching takes place in modern, well equipped labs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technician who is looking to move to their first Senior role, or an experienced Senior Science Technician who is looking for a fresh challenge. We offer a highly supportive and committed working environment within a culture of success. Our CPD provision is extensive and follows a research driven approach, putting LBTS at the leading edge of professional practice.

“The school’s motto to ‘educate, empower and excel’ provides the inspiration behind the school’s curriculum. Leaders are determined that all pupils have the tools to read, question and have a personal view on contemporary and academic issues.”
“This is a very happy and caring school. Leaders know pupils and their families well. One pupil, typical of many, described the school as ‘home.’"
“Leaders have created a broad and highly ambitious curriculum which provides pupils with the knowledge and skills they need for their next steps."
“Leaders work hard to remove any barriers to learning so that all pupils can be successful. All pupils excel and flourish here. Pupils are safe.”
“Leaders provide a curriculum that is broad and ambitious. Across the curriculum, the breadth of coverage far exceeds the expectations of the national curriculum.”
“Leaders are robust in their checks on pupils’ attendance and follow up any absences swiftly. All pupils, including pupils with SEND are taught the same ambitious curriculum.”
