Job overview

At Magna Academy we have a team of dedicated people who are all working together to achieve our mission of preparing our students for success. Our academy is a vibrant and exciting place to work and was graded as good with outstanding Personal Development and an outstanding Sixth Form by Ofsted in May 2023. We are proud that our outcomes are strong across the academy.

Due to growth in student numbers and the successful relocation of the incumbent Vice-Principal within the Trust we wish to add capacity to our senior leadership team through appointing an excellent Vice Principal. We are looking for someone with a real passion for raising achievement for all pupils. We are also looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, experienced and inspiring leader who will understand and embody aspirations into every corner of the Academy, working alongside other leaders in the academy

The post would be excellent preparation for a headship. This role is critical to the continuing progress of the Academy. You would be joining a very strong Senior Leadership Team who are determined to drive further improvements at Magna. Our partnership with South Central Teaching School Hub and position within Aspirations Trust means you may also have the opportunity to provide academy to academy support, if you desire this.

What we are looking for:

● You will be a very successful senior leader with a proven track record of school improvement

● You will have been an Assistant Principal for at least 2 years

● You will have significant experience of raising standards, leading change and have excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate staff and students

● You will have expertise in creating a positive culture through managing behaviour and

attendance effectively

● You will have the potential to move to Principalship

What we offer:

● Bespoke support and line management from an experienced Associate Principal and Executive Principal

● Professional progression opportunities

● Great students who conduct themselves impeccably

● Strong systems and structures meaning students feel safe and secure

● Measures to reduce staff workload such as centralised detentions and a sensible feedback policy focused on whole class feedback – we do not have onerous/impossible marking policies

● A centralised homework system at KS3

● No formal graded lesson observations – just ongoing ‘no-stakes’ feedback, helping you to continuously develop – we believe that trusting our staff with autonomy helps to develop a strong ‘develop and excel’ culture

● Collaborative planning with centralised, shared units of work and resources

● CPD starts as soon as you are appointed and is ongoing

● State of the art facilities and a very pleasant location in beautiful Dorset
