Message from the Head

Are you an inspirational teacher? Do you truly care about the children you teach and want each of them to achieve their very best? Do you set high standards for yourself and your pupils and are you willing to go the extra mile to make each day in school special?

At Danes Hill we aim high for every child. We recognise that each young person who joins us is a unique individual and that the journey they will travel, whilst at the school, is as unique as they are. We want them to be academically successful, to have humility in victory and composure in defeat on the sports fields, to recognise the importance of the arts and the digital world in which we live and to make the most of the opportunities that we can offer to them.

Most importantly we want to work with the parents to help shape their children into thoroughly decent human beings.

It is a privilege to be an educator and I feel utterly privileged to be leading Danes Hill School. It is a very special place to work and learn and the warmth of the community is tangible. We are currently recruiting and if you are willing to work hard then I promise that the school will offer a really warm welcome to new members of the community.

Our classes are small, the parents are supportive, the non-contact is generous and the leadership team are willing and able to guide you through your induction period and support you fully in your career. About Danes Hill School:

Danes Hill School is situated in 55 acres of landscaped grounds in the village of Oxshott, Surrey. We are a 2-13 co-educational school that values the importance of Years 7 and 8 and retains very strong numbers in the top two year groups. Whilst we are an academically demanding school, we also value the breadth of opportunity on offer beyond the taught curriculum. School is more than maths and English!

Danes Hill offers an exceptional working environment. Set in 55 acres bordering open countryside, yet commutable to London, it is a thriving school which has received an outstanding report by the Independent School’s Inspectorate. Inspectors described the school as ‘excellent in all areas’ and commented that ‘teamwork is strong’. They also noted that ‘relationships between pupils and staff, and amongst the pupils, are consistently outstanding’. We feel these comments accurately reflect the school and are indeed key to making it such a great place to work. An on-going building program is further developing the classroom accommodation, adding to the excellent existing facilities that include specialist science laboratories, art, design and technology rooms, performance spaces and high quality sports facilities.

Working at Danes Hill you become part of a large, dynamic community encompassing all the teaching and non-teaching staff. Dedicated support staff work in tandem with teaching staff, taking care of many of the administrative tasks in a friendly, cooperative environment. The Common Room team, elected each year, organise social events and charity fundraisers. You are also able to make use of the swimming pool and other sports facilities, before and after school, helping to burn off our renowned lunches!
