Have evidence of a commitment to their professional development.
Evidence of ICT confidence and competence.
A clear understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children.
Personal qualities we look for
First class teaching skills to include the planning, preparation, and teaching of engaging and challenging lessons. Supporting pupils with intervention, when necessary in applications for future schools (pre tests), scholarships and bursaries.
Commitment to maintain a safe environment that supports learning, where pupils feel secure.
Strong and inspirational leadership of the Mathematics department and curriculum across the school.
Excellent classroom management; establishing and maintaining a good standard of behaviour through well-focused teaching and positive, productive relationships.
Commitment to providing excellent pastoral care of all the pupils.
Ability to monitor pupil progress and make appropriate interventions when necessary and set targets for progress.

Ability to establish a strong partnership with pupils, parents, and staff.
Evidence of a passion for learning and developing your own development.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills with pupils, parents, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide clear structures for lessons, and for sequences of lessons, in the short, medium and longer term, which maintain pace, motivation and challenge.
Teach Mathematics to Yrs 4 -8. Teaching a wide range of groups and abilities, ultimately leading to (13+) Common Entrance or (13+) Scholarship level examinations.
To co-ordinate the resources of the Mathematics Department (within pre agreed budget).
Teach sub-sets in preparation for senior school pre-tests, predominantly in year groups 5 & 6. Some of these additional lessons will take place after school and will result in a commensurate reduction in duties / commitment to extra-curricular activities.
To set tasks for whole class, individual and group work, (including homework) which set appropriate and challenging expectations for pupils’ learning, motivation and presentation of work.
To assess the performance of pupils and record their development, progress and attainment, using this to plan for future learning.
To critically evaluate own teaching for ongoing effectiveness and improvement; keeping up-to-date with subject development and to take part in relevant CPD for this purpose, disseminating to other staff where appropriate.
To celebrate pupils’ work through effective displays throughout the department and around the school and regularly update displays/exhibitions.
Applications will be considered as they are submitted. The School reserves the right to commence or complete the recruitment process at any time prior to the closing date so early application is recommended.
Prior to interview, an online search will be conducted to identify any past or current incidents or issues that might affect your suitability to work with children and undertake this role. This is in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education. Please note this online search will be carried out only on publicly available information and limited to issues relating to your suitability to work with children and/or in a school.

About Tower House School
We're Small
It’s key to our philosophy. For us, small defines all of the values that are sometimes lost in larger establishments. Small gives us the time for individuals and a personal touch. We foster an independent spirit without losing the essentials of cooperation and partnership. Small is simply a kinder and more forward thinking approach. Small is what we are, but it does not limit us.
It's our ideas and achievements that are big.
Tower House is home to just 180 boys. Like a family, we understand that every child is different. Some will be faster out of the blocks than others. But we don’t give up on any child. We commit to every boy. We do this because we have no desire to turn education into a process.
We want to produce individuals. If we are doing that, we've done our job. Want to help us achieve our goals?
