Post: Clerk to Governors

Location: Goosewell Primary Academy, Plymouth. PL9 9HD

FTE Salary Range: £19,312 rising to a maximum of £20,092 per annum; pro rata for Part Time contract 

(NJC Grade C, SCP 5-7)

Contract Type: Part time; Term-time. (Can be delivered remotely/working from home)

Contract Hours: 2.36 hours per week; 90 Hours per year


About the role

The post of Clerk to the governing body is a critical position in the running of the school.  You would work closely with the Headteacher and Chair of the Governing Body.  You need to be a highly organised person with attention to detail.  You will have experience in minute taking and meeting organisation and be able to demonstrate a diplomatic approach to communication. 

This is a great opportunity for an organised, confident and dedicated person with strong communication skills and a positive can-do attitude.   We are looking for people who have the following experience and qualities:  

  • Experience of accurate and concise minute taking, writing agendas and organising meetings  
  • Good ICT skills including a working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook  
  • Strong communication skills to exchange information with a range of audiences and professionals (e.g. Governing Board Members, Senior Leadership team, other col-leagues and School stakeholders)  
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also unsupervised and to manage workload effectively.  
  • A flexible approach to the delivery of the role meeting all personal, educational and operational needs

Previous experience of working within an educational setting and related legislation, guidance and legal requirements would be advantageous however it is not essential for this role.
