High Street Primary / Millbay Academy, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Administrator to join the School Federation as soon as possible.

Location: High Street Primary, Plymouth, PL1 3SJ

FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade C, Point 5 – 7, £21,575 rising to a maximum of £22,369, per annum pro-rata

Actual Annual Salary: £19,117 to a maximum of £19,820 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, full time; term-time (39 weeks per year).

Contract Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:15 to 16:15. For this role we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours, job share, compressed hours, or staggered hours. About the role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Administrator as part of a wider admin team that supports both High Street Primary and Millbay Academy on a range of administrative duties.

The job involves working within recognised procedures and will include busy reception cover, answering telephone and face to face enquiries from a range of stakeholders including parents, staff and students.  General administrative duties including maintenance of manual and computerised records/management systems, financial administration e.g. recording school meals and undertaking specific duties that support the day to day administrative operations of the school.

Whilst the role will predominantly based at High Street Primary, there may be requirements to work at Millbay Academy on an ad-hoc basis due to staffing requirements or more regularly depending on pupil numbers across both schools.

About the successful candidate

This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated, confident and dedicated person who is very well organised and with a can-do attitude.   We are looking for people who have the following experience and qualities:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Good knowledge of general computer packages and office equipment e.g. Microsoft Office, photocopier, telephones etc.
  • GCSE Mathematics and English – Grade C and above or equivalent
  • Confidence in reception cover and have good verbal and written communication skills to exchange information with a range of audiences (e.g. staff, students, parents and others)
  • Good keyboarding skills for the production of routine correspondence and emails with occasional typing
  • Experience of manual and computerised record/information systems
  • Previous experience of working in a school, whilst is not essential would be desirable.

About the School

High Street Primary is a small and rapidly improving academy, with a warm, caring and friendly ethos, with a PAN of 210 pupils plus a nursery. The school recently formed a federation with Millbay Academy.

Our vision is clear: every child matters, every day. We ensure our school allows every child to achieve their full potential - we work tirelessly and collaboratively as a High Street team to offer all children the opportunity to meet their aspirations beyond expectations.

High Street is a small community school with approximately 130 children on roll from age two to age eleven. We work with external agencies and all stakeholders to ensure we offer our community the support and commitment they deserve. We have a wonderful team of teaching and non-teaching staff and we pride ourselves on the caring relationships we have built between all of the members of our ‘school family’.

High Street Primary Academy is a small and rapidly improving academy. We were founded in 1894 and we have a great history. There is a strong family atmosphere in our school, and the children feel safe and cared for. We have recently adopted a new and exciting approach to the curriculum with creativity at its heart, and we are on the journey to achieve the Artsmark award.
