Warlingham Park School is seeking to appoint an energetic, highly motivated SEN learning support assistant to work alongside a Year 3 pupil with a range of complex needs. As a 1:1 support for a child with a range of complex needs, your primary responsibility will be to help the child access and engage the curriculum and other areas of school life. This will involve working closely with the child's teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualised learning plans that address the child's specific needs and challenges.


The ideal candidate for this role will have a compassionate and patient demeanour, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by children with complex SEN. Experience working with children with special educational needs including ASD particularly in a school setting, is essential. Additionally, candidates should be familiar with relevant legislation and best practices in supporting children with complex educational needs in a mainstream educational setting.

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who will be able to join our excellent team of staff. We would like to hear from you are able;


• to work under the direction/guidance of the class teacher/SENCO when needed, but be able to adapt and modify all areas of the curriculum, and lead teaching when deemed best for the pupil. 

• to develop a positive working relationship with the pupil and support and develop their understanding of basic skills.

• to prepare and adapt personalised learning resources under the guidance of the class teacher.

• to liaise closely with the class teacher and other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and behaviour specialists, to support the child's development.

• to support the child with communication, social interaction, and sensory processing difficulties using a range of strategies to assist with emotional regulation. 

• to navigate the pupil through the school day and assist with general organisation, self-care and social behaviour.  

• to collaborate with other staff member to provide physical and emotional support to the child during lessons, external activities and unstructured times of the school day.

• to monitor and track the pupil’s social, emotional and academic progress and update relevant stakeholders 

• to establish a positive relationship with parents/carers and provide key information and feedback when appropriate.

• to undergo training/courses in administering epilepsy medication. 

• to attend relevant CPD training and professional development opportunities and maintain an up to date knowledge of pupils with SEN.   

• To assist the pupil in the future transition process to a specialist setting, with particular regard to emotional support needed to adapt to a new provision.
